MISS OKLAHOMA TEEN USA 2002 Joy Cometti

Joy Cometti represented the state of Oklahoma at the 2002 Miss Teen USA pageant at South Padre Island, Texas. Her roommate at the pageant was Brieanne Bogart, Miss Nebraska Teen USA. The hosts were Willa Ford and Chris Kirkpatrick. The entertainers were Bow Wow and Play.

Current Biographical Information:
Joy is currently a freshman at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. While Joy is undecided about her major at this time, she would like to take some fashion photography classes since photography is one of her hobbies.

What is your best memory of your year as a titleholder?
Kasie Head and I were in Bayonne, New Jersey and took a taxi to get breakfast. We let the taxi go and went inside to eat, then we tried to flag down a taxi to take us back to our hotel. That's when we found out that you can't just flag down a taxi, you have to call for one, but we didn't have the number. So Kasie and I had to walk nine blocks in the freezing cold, carrying our luggage. We can laugh about it now, but at the time it was horrendous!

Who was the one person you met during your year that you can say you were really excited to meet?
The person I liked meeting the most was Kasie Head, Miss Oklahoma USA 2002, because if I had never met her then I wouldn't have such a close friend right now. I'm so glad we were crowned together because we got to do so much together and become such good friends.

How do you think your year as Miss Oklahoma Teen USA has impacted what you will be able to do in the future?
I think that preparing for the interview competition will help the most in the future with job interviews and being able to communicate with people. Just being able to say that I held the title of Miss Oklahoma Teen USA will help open doors for me. I also think that it helped with my self esteem. Whatever I choose to do in the future, even some day competing for the title of Miss Oklahoma USA if I want, I'll know that I already accomplished a year representing the state of Oklahoma at Oklahoma Teen USA.
