Haleigh Ryan Hurst is an Honors student at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Public Relations and Political Science with a minor in International Studies. She plans to attend law school in Washington, D.C. and obtain her Juris Doctorate in Constitutional Law. Haleigh has always had a love for politics and has expressed interest in one day running for a Senate position or working in the White House. Her main passion is education reform and is working on new education policies in Oklahoma.
In school, she is a Gaylord Ambassador and a member of the Dean’s Leadership Class, GamedayU TV hostess during football season, director of social events at Pi Beta Phi sorority, and host of the ThunderGrads podcast. In her community, she loves volunteering with The Ronald McDonald House, Our Daily Bread, Rays of Light, and volunteers weekly to read with kindergarteners. Haleigh loves nothing better than having the opportunity to spread her anti-bullying platform, Shine Your Light.
Haleigh created her platform when she was in middle school after being bullied for her speech impediment and height. Now, she uses her voice to speak out against bullying. As a sophomore in high school, she published her children’s book, Shine Your Light. She is an avid blogger and vlogger on her self-empowerment website, TheHaleighHurst.com.
Actions speak louder than words and Haleigh plans to employ that motto throughout her year. Although she is a busy college student, she promises to do everything she can to promote the Miss Teen USA organization.
