On the evening of Dec. 2nd, in the city of Norman, Ok, the audience at the Nancy O'Brian Performing Arts Center watched as Miss South Tulsa Teen USA, Taylor Gorton's, dreams came true as she was crowned the new Miss Oklahoma Teen USA.
Taylor, a resident of Glenpool Ok is a 16 yr old sophomore at Glenpool High School. She is a varsity cheerleader, manager of the wrestling team, member of the varsity track team, and a member of the warrior spirit crew.

Taylor supports many charities with her time and resources. Some charities include but are not limited to, Tulsa Firefighters Burn Camp, Special Olympics, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, B.A.C.A Bikers against Child Abuse , as well as an organization Taylor recently created herself known as Crown's and Gowns. She will be collecting used gowns for girls who would otherwise not get to experience their High School Prom. She doesn't stop there Taylor is also making herself available to do hair and make-up to provide the whole package for these young ladies.

In Taylor's free time she enjoys shopping, scrape booking, writing poetry , which 2 poems have been published, watching movies, baking with her two best friends, scavenger hunts, extreme roller coaster riding, watching reality TV., checking her Myspace, and most importantly getting a good laugh in with her family and friends. Taylor also enjoys pageant consulting for girls ages 5-12. She aids them in areas such as self-esteem, poise and interviewing skills. Taylor's girls have experienced an abundant amount of success.

This was Taylor's first year to compete in the USA system. The term beginners luck was not in the equation when she was crowned. She believes her hard work, bright personality and experience are the reasons she received this distinguished title. Taylor brought home the outstanding interview award, as well as Miss Congeniality.

Taylor's goal after high school is to attend Lyndenwood University and major in broadcast journalism and obtain a minor in business management. It is clear with her passion for public speaking and after receiving her degree, Taylor will make her way to a major network company.
Taylor is a very active teenager. She always has a smile on her face that could brighten up any room. Her mother says she can easily carry on a conversation with a brick wall. She stands firm and strong in high morals by faith. Taylor prides herself in being humble, compassionate, and most importantly self- sacrificing. She is always willing to lend a helping hand. All of the qualities combined make Taylor approachable and extremely easy to relate to. She enjoys showing others how important the are.

Taylor has had an amazing amount of support from her family. She does not believe it would have been possible to reach this level of success if it weren't for her loving and encouraging parents. She is the oldest daughter of Tom and Starla Gorton. She also has two younger sisters, Sydney 11 and Hunter 5.

Taylor believes the biggest problem facing her generation is lack of self confidence. With her title as Miss Oklahoma Teen USA she hopes to help build self confidence in our youth. Showing them to remain true to them selves as well as remain head strong. Taylor is available for interviews, speaking engagements, emceeing events, autograph signing, or any other hosted event.

She will proudly represent the state of Oklahoma this August in the 2008 Miss Teen USA pageant. The location and date are to be announced.
